Flashlight for Galaxy 3.2
Flashlight for Galaxy is our flagship utility — a fast, reliable flashlight app built for Samsung Galaxy and LG devices. Version 3.2 has been specifically tested and optimised for the LG K9, taking advantage of its hardware LED capabilities to deliver the brightest possible output.

What it does
At its core, Flashlight for Galaxy turns your phone's LED into the brightest possible torch. But it goes further than a simple on/off switch. The app includes a precision strobe dial that lets you control flash frequency for signalling or emergency use, a built-in compass for orientation, and a real-time battery meter with temperature monitoring to ensure you are never caught off guard.
The power button is oversized and centrally placed — designed to be found instantly, even in complete darkness. There is no splash screen, no loading delay, and no setup required. Open the app and you have light.
Features
- Maximum LED brightness using direct hardware access
- Adjustable strobe dial for variable flash frequency
- Built-in magnetic compass
- Real-time battery level meter
- Battery temperature monitoring
- Large power button for instant on/off in the dark
- Optimised for Samsung Galaxy and LG K-series hardware
- Minimal permissions — camera (LED access) only
- No background services or persistent notifications
Technical details
How the LED optimisation works
Most flashlight apps use the standard Android Camera API to toggle the LED. This works, but it does not always produce the maximum brightness the hardware is capable of. On many devices — particularly Samsung Galaxy and LG K-series phones — the LED driver supports intensity levels that the default API does not expose.
Flashlight for Galaxy 3.2 uses device-specific code paths to access these lower-level controls where available. On the LG K9, for example, this means the LED runs at its true maximum output rather than the reduced level that the generic API provides. The result is a noticeably brighter flashlight with the same hardware.
The strobe function also benefits from this approach. Because we control the LED timing directly rather than going through the camera preview pipeline, strobe frequencies are more accurate and the transitions between on and off states are sharper — producing a cleaner, more visible signal.
Battery and temperature monitoring
Running an LED at full brightness draws significant current, which can drain your battery and generate heat. Flashlight for Galaxy monitors both in real time. The battery meter shows your current charge level, and the temperature reading lets you know if the device is getting warm. If the battery temperature approaches the safe operating threshold, the app will alert you so you can switch off before causing any stress to your hardware.
This is especially important on older devices where battery health may already be degraded. We would rather you turn off the flashlight early than risk damaging your phone.
